Spirit Music Group Inks Deal to Manage Henry Mancini Catalog

Spirit Music Group has cut a deal to serve as North American administrator for the Henry Mancini catalog.

Spirit Music Group has cut a deal to serve as North American administrator for the Henry Mancini catalog, which includes such classics as “Moon River,” “Charade” and the iconic themes for the Pink Panther films and the Peter Gunn TV series.

Previously the catalog was overseen by the Universal Music Publishing Group, which Spirit chairman David Renzer once headed up.

“We are thrilled to be reunited once again with David Renzer as our long-term music publisher and to work with the Spirit Music Group team,” said Ginny Mancini, the widow of the late composer, who died in 1994.

Mancini’s film scores include Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Victor Victoria, Arabesque, and The Glass Menagerie, as well as television themes like Newhart, Remington Steele and Ripley’s Believe It or Not.

Spirit Music said it will aggressively seek synch opportunities in film, television and commercials.

“Henry Mancini created some of the most memorable, award-winning music for film and television and incredible songs, as well,” Renzer said in a statement. “I know that the entire Spirit team is excited to be representing this amazing music and finding new opportunities for this incredible catalog.”
