Hamilton fans, rejoice: Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “My Shot” has sped to No. 1 on the Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart, becoming the most-shared and discussed track on Twitter (as of 3 p.m. ET, Feb. 23). With its No. 1 showing, “Shot” surpasses its previous high of No. 3.
The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.
“Shot” fires to the top slot after Miranda tweeted a link to a demo version of the song on his SoundCloud page. The demo solely features Hamilton characters Alexander Hamilton and Hercules Mulligan; the final version includes turns from Aaron Burr, Marquis de Lafayette and John Laurens. Since its original posting in November, the demo cut has tallied 50,000 plays on the streaming service.

It’s been a busy month for Miranda, the composer, lyricist and star of the widely acclaimed Broadway musical Hamilton. At the 58th annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 15, the cast became the first act to perform on the telecast live from Broadway, and the accompanying recording, Hamilton: An American Musical, won the best musical theater album Grammy. (The set includes “My Shot.”)
The album, released digitally in September, entered the Billboard 200 at No. 12 (its peak so far), marking the highest debut by a cast recording since the chart combined mono and stereo sales in 1963. It also garnered a stellar review from Billboard, which noted, “every listen finds a new sanguine historical detail, slick interpolation of a hip-hop classic or dizzying rhyme pattern.”
