Guy Sebastian’s T.R.U.T.H. is the new No. 1 in Australia.
The Australian Idol alum’s ninth album bows at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, for his third leader following Just As I Am (December 2003) and Armageddon (December 2012).
T.R.U.T.H. features the comeback hit “Choir,” which won song of the year at the 2019 ARIA Awards (Sebastian was host on the night).
The soulful pop singer signed to Sony Music in 2003 after taking out the first season of Australian Idol.
In the years since, he’s carved out a career like few others with four million albums sold, 42 platinum accreditations and six No. 1 singles, the most by any Australian male artist in ARIA history.
“This is a special No.1 for Guy Sebastian,” comments Denis Handlin, chairman & CEO of Sony Music ANZ. “He has overcome a tremendous amount of adversity in recent times and his work ethic in the making and promoting of this album has been outstanding. I am so proud of Guy and the team in what is a truly remarkable achievement, and it was very emotional to celebrate this incredible milestone with Guy’s family and friends and our team”.

In a statement, Sebastian adds, “What a journey it’s been. I still can’t believe that one of the most personal albums I have released has resonated with so many people. It has been quite an extraordinary year for everyone, and I am really humbled that these songs have connected and helped along the way”.
