“Talento Uno represents a new model for the Latin music industry,” stated Lopez in a statement.  “People are connected more now than ever, and Talento Uno is the ecosystem by which artists and business partners can reach fans more successfully.”

Lopez launched Talento Uno together with co-founder and managing partner Eddie Orjuela, a veteran live music promoter and A&R executive who most recently launched Nederlander Concerts’ national Latin department.

The Talento Uno team also includes two other Universal veterans: Eddie Laca, who ran sales for the label and will now be head of commercial affairs; and Nelson Mendoza, who will head A&R after working in that division for both UMLE’s urban label Machete and regional Mexican label Fonovisa.

Lopez, who will act as CEO, brings to his company a wealth of expertise, including launching Machete Music, the first urban music label from a major record company, to running UMLE’s leading regional Mexican labels, Fonovisa and Disa. He was most recently EVP and GM of Universal Music Latin Entertainment (UMLE), and also ran the company’s brand partnerships and digital division for the U.S. and Mexico. This year, he was named to Billboard’s Branding Power Players list.
