Guns N’ Roses’ Reunion Tour Has Played to Over 1.8 Million Fans (And Counting)

With the final 2016 dates of Guns N’ Roses’ Not in This Lifetime… reunion tour reported to Billboard Boxscore, the trek’s total gross now stands at a whopping $192 million. The show goes on, however, as the tour restarted on Jan. 21 in Osaka, Japan, and will continue through Sept. 8. In 2016, the tour played to 1.8 million fans.

On the latest Hot Tours tally (see list, below), the band dominates with the shows from its five-week trek through seven Latin American countries in October and November.

Highlights from the Latin trek include two-show engagements in two cities: Buenos Aires and São Paulo — both topped the $10 million mark in sales.

Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires racked up more than $11 million at the box office from 105,026 sold tickets for concerts on Nov. 4 and 5. The stadium, Argentina’s largest, was the second-highest grossing venue for the band last year, surpassed only by MetLife Stadium in the metropolitan New York City market with a $11.6 million take from shows on July 23 and 24. Also topping $10 million in revenue was Allianz Parque, São Paulo’s two-year-old football stadium that drew 93,600 fans on Nov. 11 and 12.

The Not in This Lifetime… tour launched last April and brought together the band’s Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagen for their first live shows since 1993. The tour’s Jan. 21, 2017, Osaka date was the first of 14 cities booked in Asia and Oceania during the first quarter of 2017. A European leg will kick off at the end of May followed by a final sweep through 16 North American markets during the summer months.

Meanwhile, the promoter of Guns N’ Roses’ Latin American trek, Mercury Concerts, also produced a string of September and October dates in Latin markets for Aerosmith that rank second on the latest Hot Tours recap. Dubbed the Rock N’ Roll Rumble Tour, the Aerosmith run included concerts in eight cities beginning with an outdoor Sept. 29 performance at Parque Simón Bolívar in Bogotá, Colombia. The top grosser was a sold-out stadium date in Buenos Aires on Oct. 8 with 31,097 fans present and a gross of $2.9 million. Revenue from all eight dates reached $17 million from 187,912 sold seats.

Aerosmith is set to hit the road in May with the Aero-Vederci Baby! Tour, billed as a “farewell” trek for the band. The tour kicks off in Israel on May 17 and will continue with a string of European dates into early July.
