Girls’ Generation-TTS Earns 2nd Consecutive No. 1 on World Albums Chart

Nearly two and a half years after topping the World Albums chart with their debut EP, Girls’ Generation-TTS return to No. 1 with their Holler: The 2nd Mini Album EP. The trio, a splinter group of Girls’ Generation, topped the ranking in May 2012 with Twinkle becoming the first K-pop act to hit No. 1 on the chart.

Their sophomore release also debuts at No. 11 on the Heatseekers Albums chart, their second appearance on the chart after Twinkle hit No. 2. The EP’s title track starts at No. 6 on World Digital Songs.

Meet the TTS Girls

With their latest chart-topper, the TTS gals become just the third K-pop to land multiple No. 1s on the World Album chart. They join boy band B.A.P with three (2013 EPs One Shot and Badman along with 2014 full-length album First Sensibility) and singer/rapper G-Dragon with two (2012’s One of a Kind EP and 2013’s Coup D’etat, Pt. 1 EP). Girls’ Generation-TTS currently stand as the only female act with more than one No. 1 on the chart. Girls’ Generation saw their full-length I Got a Boy top the chart in January 2013.

Earlier this month, the trio told Billboard the anticipation for them to perform on the charts inspired them to create top-notch material.

“All those high expectations are kind of what motivated me and grounded me to making better music,” member Seohyun says. “I was happy I could choose the music wisely. I’ll be thankful for people wanting to listen instead of just watching.”
