Gepe Sets Bicoastal U.S. Tour Dates

Gepe's inventive indie sound combines engaging melodies with deep South American musical roots and a radical perspective.

Chilean pop surrealist Gepe will embark on a bicoastal U.S. tour in April. The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, whose inventive indie sound combines engaging melodies with deep South American musical roots and a radical perspective, comes to New York’s SOBs on April 23, just after a scheduled performance at the 2016 Vive Latino festival in Mexico City.

Gepe, whose given name is Daniel Riveros, came out of Santiago’s underground scene a decade ago as a folkloric revivalist with a fresh take on Chilean forms like the cueca, which was championed by the now-iconic Chilean artist Violeta Parra. Gepe’s appeal, his progressive move into the pop realm, and a string of artistic videos have since gained him fans throughout Latin America and among Latin alternative followers in the Latino U.S.
