Genius is shaking up its executive ranks with a new hire and two promotions, the music-focused digital media company known for its lyrics pages and Verified video series announced today (Feb. 21).

Kelly Vereb Steube will join the company’s Brooklyn headquarters as vice president of integrated marketing, reporting to Genius chief revenue officer Robert Elder. Steube has more than a decade of experience in media brand marketing for the likes of Group Nine Media, Hearst Digital Media, Cosmopolitan, Esquire and most recently, Rolling Stone, where she served as vp, marketing.

Meanwhile, two longtime staffers are celebrating promotions: Elizabeth Milch, now Genius’s vice president of content operations, and Rob Markman, now vice president of content strategy.

In her new role, Milch will spearhead inter-company collaborations, working with managers across the community, editorial, branded content, social media and design teams. Markman will continue to oversee Genius’ Artist Relations team, while expanding his role to include collaboration with the company’s larger leadership team on content development and overall strategy. Both will remain based in Brooklyn, reporting to Genius chief content officer Brendan Frederick.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Kelly as our marketing leader,” Genius co-founder/CEO Tom Lehman said. “Her vision for telling the Genius story in this quicksilver landscape is smart and singular, and we’re excited to see it unfold in our collaborations with brands and across all our offerings. We’re also honored to promote Liz and Rob, two longtime Geniuses and transformative forces who will continue to play critical roles in cementing our voice in the music media and artist communities. I’m so proud of the whole Genius team — they keep raising the bar for what’s possible in music storytelling year after year.”

The announcement comes on the heels of two new developments for Genius. Earlier this month, it entered a new agreement bringing Verified (in which artists explain their song lyrics) to Apple Music, and this week, it announced plans to bring its digital content to television for the first time through a partnership with Fuse.

Founded in 2009 as a lyrics site focused on hip-hop, the site has expanded to cover all genres, added original content like a “Behind the Lyrics” integration with Spotify in addition to several video series, and entered the live events sphere, with concerts like its popular IQ/BBQ summer festival in Brooklyn.
