Galantis gallops into the top 10 of Billboard‘s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated July 25) with “Runaway (U & I)” (12-10). The track from the Swedish duo (Linus Eklow and former Bloodshy & Avant member Christian Karlsson) rises with 14,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen Music. “Runaway,” which debuted on Oct. 25, 2014, reaches the top 10 in its 40th week, completing the longest trek to that level since the chart’s January 2013 inception. It eclipses Disclosure‘s “Latch” (featuring Sam Smith), which entered the top 10 in its 33rd frame (April 26, 2014).
We also recently saw the third-steadiest ascent to the top 10 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs: On the June 13 chart, Calvin Harris harnessed his seventh top 10 (tying him with Zedd for the most top 10s by any act) with “Pray to God” (featuring Haim) in its 30th chart week.
HIGHER THAN YOUR AV-ER-AGE DEBUT: Also on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, the Hot Shot Debut belongs to the team of Yogi, Skrillex, Pusha T, Moody Good & Trollphace with “Burial” (No. 23). Skrillex scores his 22nd entry on the chart, extending his lead for the most among all acts; David Guetta follows with 18.
Sporting sales of 12,000, “Burial” also debuts at No. 9 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs.
‘SUMMER’ SONG: Another noteworthy achievement on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs belongs to Afrojack. His latest, “SummerThing!,” featuring Mike Taylor‘s vocals, soars into the top 20 (29-17) (and into the same region on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, where it zooms 29-20). Two weeks ago, “SummerThing!” also hit No. 20 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs. It has scanned 14,000 downloads since its June 11 release.
Staying with the “summer” theme, two other seasonally appropriate tracks rise on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs: Calvin Harris’ “Summer” (14-11; 1.5 million U.S. streams, up 6 percent) and Lana Del Rey & Cedric Gervais‘ “Summertime Sadness” (21-19; 1.2 million, up 3 percent). The songs were top 10 smashes on the Billboard Hot 100 in in 2014 and 2013, respectively.
TOP ‘THIS’: Shuffling over to Dance Club Songs, L’Tric — the Australian DJ duo of Ivan Gough and Andy Jaimes — hits No. 1 with its first chart single, “This Feeling” (2-1). Gough previously reached No. 10 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs in 2012 with “In My Mind,” with Feenixpawl (and featuring Georgi Kay), which drew buzz for its Axwell remix. Remixes from DEVolution, Fabrikate, and Kryder, among others, helped L’Tric travel to the top of Dance Club Songs.
