Future Lands First Streaming Songs No. 1 as Lead Artist With ‘Wait for U’
He also occupies eight of the top 10 songs thanks to the release of new album 'I Never Liked You.'
Future scores his second No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart – and occupies eight of the top 10 positions via his new album I Never Liked You – as “Wait for U,” featuring Drake and Tems, debuts atop the May 14 list. It’s his first No. 1 as a lead artist.
“Wait” bows with 40.1 million official U.S. streams earned in the April 29-May 5 tracking week, according to Luminate.
It’s the third non-holiday title to reach 40 million streams in a single week in 2022, following the debut weeks for Jack Harlow’s “First Class” (55 million, April 23) and Harry Styles’ “As It Was” (43.8 million, April 16).
Future previously ruled Streaming Songs, which began in 2013, as a featured artist on Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy,” alongside Young Thug. The song led the list for five weeks beginning last September.
Future’s previous best on Streaming Songs as a lead artist, meanwhile, had been the No. 2-peaking songs “Mask Off” in 2017; “Life Is Good,” featuring Drake, in 2020; and “Pushin P,” a co-lead with Gunna and featuring Young Thug, earlier this year.
“Wait” is Drake’s chart-leading 12th Streaming Songs ruler (and first since the aforementioned “Sexy” last year) and Tems’ first.

Seven other songs from I Never Liked You concurrently debut within the chart’s top 10. “Puffin on Zootiez” leads the pack at No. 2 (26.3 million streams), down to the No. 10, “Massaging Me” (15.2 million).
Future’s eight songs in the top 10 mark the most appearances simultaneously since the Sept. 18, 2021, ranking, when Drake occupied the entire top 10. He’s the eighth act in all to represent at least eight of the top 10 positions, following Drake (who’s done so twice), J. Cole, Olivia Rodrigo, Juice WRLD, The Weeknd, Lil Uzi Vert and Post Malone.
With eight new top 10s, Future now boasts 23 total top 10s on Streaming Songs, tied for the fourth-most in the chart’s history alongside Justin Bieber and Kanye West. Drake leads all acts with 67 top 10s, a count to which he adds with “Wait” and the No. 7 debut of Future’s “I’m On One” (20 million streams), on which he’s featured. (West also adds to his count after being featured on Future’s “Keep It Burnin,” which bows at No. 9 with 17.9 million streams.)

The entirety of I Never Liked You’s 16-song standard tracklist reaches Streaming Songs, giving Future the most appearances simultaneously on the chart in his career. His previous best, 11, occurred on the Oct. 17, 2015, survey, upon the release of Drake collaborative album What a Time to Be Alive.
Concurrently, as previously reported, “Wait” starts at No. 1 on the multi-metric Billboard Hot 100 and the corresponding Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, while I Never Liked You crowns the Billboard 200 alongside Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums.
