The Italy-based division of digital distribution technology and services company FUGA has struck a new deal with Planet Records, the Latin-focused indie label and distributor that works with superstars like Daddy Yankee, Pitbull, Prince Royce and Nicky Jam.
The global digital service deal, which covers Planet Records’ core roster of Latin American and European acts, comes just over a year since FUGA expanded into Italy with offices in Rome and Milan. In its inaugural year of operation, FUGA Italy has secured more than 40 new clients.
“We are really happy to be partnering with Planet Records and it is another exciting step for FUGA Italy as we continue to establish our presence,” comments FUGA Italy managing director Lorenzo Grignani. “We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver advanced and innovative solutions for rightsholders which help them successfully nurture their independence and thrive in the streaming era.”
The FUGA platform, launched in 2008, is now connected to more than 260 DSPs worldwide and manages 4.5 million tracks. The company’s technology will allow the Planet Records label to maintain its independent ethos, also supplying white-labelling capabilities for Planet Distribution.
Founded in 1998, Planet now has offices everywhere from Miami and New York to Colombia and the Dominican Republic, and has expanded its client roster to include rock and pop acts like Tears For Fears and Spice Girls‘ Melanie C.
“We’re very proud to be the latest member of the FUGA family,” adds Planet Records founder Roberto Ferrante. “They are the natural choice to enable total independence for our distribution offering. For signed artists, FUGA’s technology allows us to maintain total control of product, directly from the recording studio to the final listener!”
Headquartered in Amsterdam, FUGA also has teams in New York, London and Seoul.
