The Frozen II soundtrack and Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding are vying for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, according to industry forecasters. Those in the know suggest that the Frozen II album could earn between 65,000 and 80,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 5, while former No. 1 Hollywood’s Bleeding could finish the week with between 50,000 and 70,000 units.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the Dec. 14-dated Billboard 200 chart (where either Frozen II or Hollywood’s Bleeding may end up No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, Dec. 8.
On the most recent Billboard 200 chart (dated Dec. 7), the Frozen II soundtrack stormed up the list, rising 15-3 in its second week on the list. The set earned 79,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 28 (up a big 214%) according to Nielsen Music. That surge was owed in large part to buzz generated by the hit film’s premiere in movie theaters on Nov. 22.

The new animated film is the sequel to the 2014’s blockbuster Frozen, which saw its soundtrack spend a whopping 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart (back when it was an album sales-only ranking), the most for a soundtrack this century. The first Frozen soundtrack finished 2014 as the second-biggest selling album of that year in the U.S., and the No. 1 album on the year-end Billboard 200 chart.
Frozen II stars Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell as sisters Elsa and Anna, respectively. Both voice their animated characters and sing on the soundtrack, as do their co-stars Josh Gad (Olaf), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff) and Evan Rachel Wood (Iduna). Also featured on the soundtrack album are such music stars as Panic! at the Disco, Kacey Musgraves and Weezer, who perform versions of new songs written for the film (and performed on the album by the cast members).
As for Hollywood’s Bleeding, the album has spent five nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and has yet to depart the weekly top five since its arrival on the chart dated Sept. 21 — 12 weeks ago. On the current chart (dated Dec. 7), the album dipped from No. 3 to No. 4 (73,000 units earned; up 6%).
