Former Disc Jockey Says Taylor Swift’s Claim of Assault ‘Defies Credibility’

The court battle between Taylor Swift and Denver disc jockey David Mueller continues.

The court battle between Taylor Swift and Denver disc jockey David Mueller continues.

Swift had claimed that Mueller “grabbed her ass” during a meet-and-greet in June, 2013. Mueller was fired from his position at country radio station KYGO after Swift’s management brought up the alleged incident to KYGO’s management, resulting in Mueller suing Swift last year for slander and alleged interference with his employment contract. Swift then sued Mueller for assault and battery.

Swift’s legal team recently filed a motion for Mueller’s case against her to be dismissed, charging that KYGO’s internal investigation had resulting in his firing, not any action taken by Swift’s management.

Mueller and his team have now responded to that request for summary judgment, writing: “The contention that Mr. Mueller lifted up Ms. Swift’s skirt and grabbed her bare ass (while standing with his girlfriend, in front of Ms. Swift’s photographer and other staff, as well as Ms. Swift’s highly trained security personnel, during an employer sponsored, VIP, backstage meet-and- greet) defies credibility.”

The response also charges that that “KYGO’s so-called investigation was a sham.”

As Billboard reported on Oct. 22, the judge in the case had the photo of Mueller’s alleged assault sealed, but left other exhibits and materials in the case open to the public, including Swift’s deposition.

“Right as the moment came for us to pose for the photo, he took his hand and put it up my dress and grabbed onto my ass cheek and no matter how much I scooted over it was still there,” Swift said in July of this year during that deposition. “A meet-and-greet is supposed to be a situation where you’re thanking people for coming, you’re supposed to be welcoming people into your home, which is the arena for that day, and for someone to violate that hospitality in that way, I was completely stunned.”
