Chicago police are looking for help in identifying the man who they say sexually assaulted a woman during the Foo Fighters show at Wrigley Field on Sunday night (July 29).
The man is described as a white male, 30-45 years old, approximately 6′ tall and 200-220 pounds. According to a tweet from the CPD, the victim in the case was attending the show at the Chicago Cubs baseball stadium when she entered a portable toilet and “was followed by a white male… [who] then sexually assaulted the victim and fled in an unknown direction.”
The Chicago Tribune reported that the 23 year-old woman said she was in line for food when a man groped her. After leaving the line, he reportedly followed her and entered the port-a-potty her before she could lock it and assaulted her, hitting her head against the wall of the toilet. She reported the incident to a nursing station and police were called before she was transported to a local hospital. At press time, the man was not in custody.
A Cubs spokesman told the paper that the organization is cooperating with police: “We are using every available resource to help authorities identify and apprehend the suspect and are working with CPD to address the matter quickly. We are encouraging anyone who may have information to please contact police.”
The Cubs announced plans to increase security for the second Foos show at Wrigley on Monday night (July 30). “We are increasing security staff in the portable restroom area so we have a fixed visual presence to monitor guests going in and out of the restrooms,” spokesperson Julian Green said. “Guest safety is paramount at Wrigley Field and we take every opportunity to ensure our guests’ safety, including routinely reviewing our security protocols and procedures with police.”
At press time, a spokesperson for the band could not be reached for comment, and the group had not made any statement about the incident. Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call the CPD hotline at (312) 744-8261.
Detectives are seeking assistance identifying this wanted offender in a July 29 sexual assault at a Wrigley Field event. The offender is described as male white between 30-45 years of age, approximately 6’00 tall, 200-220 lbs.
