Foo Fighters, Lawyer Jill Berliner Leave Longtime Firm; Laurie Soriano Named Partner at Paterno

Music clients at King, Holmes, Paterno & Soriano include Metallica, Dr. Dre, Carole King and Pharrell Williams. Berliner joins international firm Rimon Law.

Seasoned entertainment attorney Laurie Soriano’s name will be replacing that of the equally respected Jill Berliner at King, Holmes, Paterno & (as of July 16) Soriano. Berliner exits the firm taking marquee client the Foo Fighters along with her. She had previously represented Nirvana and Courtney Love as well.

Berliner has joined the international firm Rimon Law, which boasts 14 offices worldwide and a cloud-based network. Says CEO Michael Moradzadeh: “Jill is widely recognized for her passion, intelligence and creativity in her role as representative and this is what we look for when we bring aboard new partners at Rimon. Jill is a perfect fit for our entrepreneurial model.”

Soriano, who arrived at Paterno four years ago, counts Carole King, Phillip Phillips, Marilyn Manson, Die Antwoord, M.I.A., Suicidal Tendencies, Aimee Mann and Sub Pop Records among her clients. Soriano began her legal career at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, where she went on to serve as head of the firm’s music department.

King, Holmes, Paterno & Berliner was the firm behind Metallica‘s suit against Napster, as well as Phillip Phillips’ suit against 19 Entertainment. Its music roster includes long-term clients Pharrell Williams, Van Halen, Skrillex, Van Morrison, Linda Ronstadt, Steve Aoki, Zedd and 30 Seconds to Mars‘ Jared Leto, in addition to a stable of managers, agents, producers, composers and promoters.
