Foals have the early advantage with Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2 (Warner Records), the Oxford outfit’s sixth set. The indie-rockers have never gone better than No. 2, but they lead an all-new top 5 on the Official Charts Update with former X Factor winner Arthur close behind with You (Syco Music), his third album.
Foals’ previous five albums all reached the top 10, including Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1, which hit No. 2 in March of this year. The champagne will stay on ice until the weekly chart is published this Friday, because Foals’ midweek lead is just 600 chart units.
Everthing has an edge on physical and streaming formats, according to the OCC, while Arthur’s You, the followup to his 2016 chart-topping LP Back From The Edge, has the advantage on downloads.
Also on the midweek chart, U.S. rockers Alter Bridge start at No. 3 with Walk The Sky (Napalm), their equal career peak; while British alt-rock artist Yungblud is at No. 4 with his new EP The Underrated Youth (Interscope), and veteran Irish crooner Daniel O’Donnell starts at No. 5 with Halfway To Paradise (DMG TV), for what should be his 39th top 40 album.
Meanwhile, Aussie artist Tones And I’s “Dance Monkey” (Bad Batch) continues to beat a path to the singles chart summit. It’s No. 1 on the midweek chart and remains on course for a fourth week at No. 1.
The weekly U.K. charts are published late Friday, local time.
