Florida Georgia Line Leaps to No. 1 on Billboard Artist 100 Chart

As its album "Anything Goes" debuts atop the Billboard 200, FGL continues the succession of country acts ruling the Artist 100. Plus, Tove Lo reaches the top 10.

Florida Georgia Line is the top music act in the U.S., vaulting 6-1 on the Billboard Artist 100. The jump makes the pair the third country act to lead the list, with all reigning successively. Blake Shelton ruled two weeks ago, followed by Jason Aldean last week.

The Artist 100 provides the first weekly ranking dedicated to measuring artist activity across Billboard‘s most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Billboard 200 albums chart and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.


Florida Georgia Line takes over at No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 with a 165 percent surge in points, as the duo’s sophomore full-length, Anything Goes, becomes its first No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The set starts with 197,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. With its first release, Here’s to the Good Times, adding another 7,000, album sales account for 84 percent of the duo’s Artist 100 points.

Like Florida Georgia Line, Shelton and Aldean each topped the Artist 100 thanks to No. 1 debuts on the Billboard 200. Aldean slips 1-4 on the Artist 100 this week (down 57 percent in points, which closely mirrors the 67 percent second-week drop of his new album, Old Boots, New Dirt). In between FGL and Aldean, Taylor Swift rises 4-2 and Sam Smith lifts 5-3.

Maroon 5 dips 3-5 on the Artist 100, followed by Meghan Trainor (2-6), Ariana Grande (7-7), Ed Sheeran (8-8) and Iggy Azalea (9-9).

Florida Georgia Line Scores First No. 1 Album   

Swedish pop singer/songwriter Tove Lo reaches the Artist 100’s top 10 (12-10), powered by the success of her breakthrough single “Habits (Stay High),” which bullets at No. 5 on the Hot 100. Digital song sales (96,000) mark her greatest Artist 100 points contributor (44 percent), followed by radio airplay (98 million in audience, according to Nielsen BDS; 30 percent).

Among notable moves below the Artist 100’s top 10, Fall Out Boy flies 52-23 (up 38 percent). The arrival of its new single, “Immortal,” from Disney’s Big Hero 6 (in theaters Nov. 7) at No. 16 on Hot Rock Songs spurs its Artist 100 jump, with the group’s digital songs sales up by 58 percent (and marking 70 percent of its Artist 100 points total).

As for acts new to the Artist 100, Maddie & Tae debut at No. 97, thanks to their maiden hit, the bro-country skewering “Girl in a Country Song,” which concurrently reaches the Hot Country Songs top 10 (11-8). A mix of airplay (33 million) and song sales (22,000) heads up their Artist 100 sum.
