It you thought Fiona Apple‘s Vulture profile was a lot, just wait, there’s more. The singer shared a video on Thursday (Sept. 26) calling out Lil Nas X over claims she said were omitted from the feature. Apple said she’s looking for Nas X to pay up for sampling “Every Single Night” from her 2012 album The Idler Wheel… on 2018’s Nasarati mixtape cut “Kim Jung.”
“One thing that the lovely Rachel Handler [the author of the profile] didn’t mention that I did say in the interview which I would just like to say now is that Lil Nas X — you’re probably really great, but you used my song ‘Every Single Night,’ too,” she claimed. “You sampled that song, too, in a song called ‘Kim Jong Un,’ I think. And, hey, where’s my money, you cute little guy? Where’s my money?”
The “Old Town Road” artist hadn’t responded to Apple’s claims at press time. His underground Nasarati project also isn’t on any major streaming platform, which could make for a mucky situation when it comes to paying Apple any royalties.
