FC Barcelona Footballers Share Their Hype Music With Deezer Playlists
Deezer and FC Barcelona have initiated a partnership with the "Sound of Barça" channel. Deezer announced a similar partnership with Manchester United.

The Who’s “My Generation,” Jennifer Lopez’s “Ain’t Your Mama,” and Daddy Yankee’s “Shaky Shaky” are among the tracks that give Barcelona’s star soccer team its edge.
That’s according to an FC Barcelona warmup playlist posted on “The Sound of Barça,” the team’s official music channel on Deezer, part of a new partnership between the soccer club and the streaming service.
The team’s channel also currently features a halftime playlist, the Barça club theme, and picks by some of the Barça players. They include five favorite tracks from midfielder Andrés Iniesta (Spanish pop and Michael Jackson) and a list from Portuguese player André Gomes that includes Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Californication.”
It appears soccer superstar Lionel Messi has been too busy scoring goals to participate in the fledgling playlist project, which premiered Dec. 15 on Deezer. His list had included only one song — Andrés Calamaro’s “Maradona” — and has since been removed from the page. According to the club’s Deezer profile, the team has only one favorite artist. Not surprisingly, it’s Shakira, partner of center-back Gerard Piqué.
“The Sound of Barça” team playlists will be played over the PA system both before and during games played at Barcelona’s Camp Nou. Deezer promotion will appear on the LED screens in the stadium.
“Not only will the partnership allow us to give football and music fans a more personal way of accessing exclusive content but it will bring both sets of fans much closer to one of the world’s most popular sports: football,” Deezer chief commercial officer Golan Shaked said in a statement.
Deezer, which seems poised to take further advantage of the long-established ties between soccer and music, announced a similar partnership with Manchester United on Dec. 13.
