Fall Out Boy Tops Billboard Artist 100, Thanks to ‘Mania’ Debut

Fall Out Boy re-enters the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated Feb. 3) at No. 1 to become the top musical act in the U.S. for the first time, powered by the chart arrival of its seventh studio album, Mania.

The Artist 100, which launched in July 2014, measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Mania debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Top Rock Albums charts with 130,000 equivalent album units, according to Nielsen Music, earning the group its fourth No. 1 on both surveys.

FOB becomes the 12th act to re-enter the Artist 100 at No. 1, and the first since Eminem on the Jan. 3-dated ranking. It’s also the first rock group to top the chart since U2 on Dec. 23.

Album sales contribute nearly all of Fall Out Boy’s Artist 100 points (95 percent).

The band concurrently charts nine tracks from Mania on the Hot Rock Songs chart. “Hold Me Tight or Don’t” places highest, at No. 7, followed by “Church” (No. 15), “The Last of the Real Ones” (No. 16), “Wilson (Expensive Mistakes)” (No. 18), “Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea” (No. 19), “Young and Menace” (No. 22), “Heaven’s Gate” (No. 27), “Sunshine Riptide,” featuring Burna Boy (No. 29), and “Bishops Knife Trick” (No. 35).

Drake vaults 62-3 on the Artist 100, as his latest singles “God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity” debut at Nos. 1 and 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, respectively. “Plan” is Drake’s fourth Hot 100 No. 1, and the first to debut atop the tally, starting with a record 68 million on-demand U.S. audio streams.

Rounding out the Artist 100’s top five, Ed Sheeran holds at No. 2, Imagine Dragons dip 3-4 and Camila Cabello falls to No. 5 after her first week at No. 1.
