The Fader‘s annual Fader Fort multi-day showcase at SXSW in Austin has become one of the most in-demand events each year at the conference that invades central Texas each March. Now, the long-standing event, which will be in its 17th year in 2018, will be immortalized with a hardcover photographic retrospective called FADER FORT: Setting The Stage, commemorating the first 15 years of the Fader Fort. The book will be available online and at select retailers March 1, and is available for pre-order now right here.
FADER FORT: Setting The Stage will also double as the first release from the Fader‘s new publishing division, aptly named Fader Books. The 250-page tome includes introductions from Diddy and Damon Albarn, as well as portraits and performance and backstage shots of artists such as Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, Kendrick Lamar, Lou Reed, Erykah Badu and The Killers, among others.

“Fader Fort originated from a pure passion that was all about creating amazing moments in live performances,” Fader co-founder Rob Stone said in a statement. “Over time we realized these moments are becoming our legacy and our contribution to culture. This book documents those rare moments that made it what it is today.”
“Nothing sets a great artist apart from the rest more than being able to bring their music to life in a live setting,” added co-founder Jon Cohen. “The Fader Fort has created many special moments across many genres in an intimate setting that has allowed artists to establish who they are unlike any festival in the country.”
According to a press release, the annual Fort — which now stretches across four days — has been home to more than 900 performances over the past nearly two decades, and has proven to have a track record as a home for rising artists to showcase their work before critical and commercial breakthroughs.

“We’re releasing Setting The Stage now, because we’ve seen this transition of live music becoming one of the most important outlets in the music industry,” Fader president/publisher Andy Cohn said in a statement. “Throughout the 18 years of the Fader’s history, we’ve seen this flip. We’ve been at the center of major breakthroughs in many artists’ careers. Fader Fort has become a way to celebrate these artists, and champion the new ones we’re supporting in a way that is authentic, and special for everyone involved.”
