Executive Turntable: Motown Records Taps SVP of Commercial Marketing; Royal Creates New Role

Also: Warner Music South East Europe hires a general manager and Big Sync Music expands to Latin America.

Darya Pourshasb was hired as the first head of global artist and label partnerships at Royal, a Web3 startup. She will oversee artist relations and music partnerships. She will also be focused on bringing a variety of artists to Royal, from independent artists to icons, across genres and markets, and empowering them to share music ownership and deepen their relationships with fans and new audiences.

Motown Records appointed Roberto Caiaffa as svp of commercial marketing. Based out of New York, he will will work with label partners to guide strategy and execution across campaigns that drive commercial results. He will report to Alison Finley, Motown’s evp and chief operating officer.

Izabela Ciszek-Podziemska was hired as the newly created role of gm at Warner Music South East Europe. She will oversee the company’s operations in: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia. She will report to Alfonso Perez-Soto, president of emerging markets at Warner Recorded Music.

Patricia Portaro was hired as lead of the Latin America team at Big Sync Music. She will oversee all of Big Sync’s upcoming projects related to film, TV and sports while bringing in new business and delivering on all elements of the supervision process. 

SiriusXM hired Rolanda Gaines as vp of experiential and partnership marketing; Tatiana Holifield as vp of digital content and audience engagement; and Joe Hanna as senior director of brand and platform partnerships. They will report to Kimberly K. Wilson, SiriusXM’s svp of brand and consumer marketing. They will be responsible for driving growth and brand awareness for SiriusXM, Pandora and its core businesses through innovative marketing initiatives, partnerships and experiences.

Shanachie Entertainment hired Marvyn Mack and Walter Millsap III in a new role as senior executive consultants. Their roles will expand the company’s A&R capacity via their extensive industry relationships and knowledge as another step forward in Shanachie Entertainment’s continued growth and the continued building of the company’s track record of success in the realms of R&B, Gospel and Contemporary Jazz.

Christina Wiltshire was promoted to senior director of A&R at Warner Chappell Music Nashville, where she will continue to seek new and established songwriters to add to WCM’s talented roster of artists.

Ankur Patel was hired as chief business officer at Troy Carter and Suzy Ryoo’s music and tech platform Venice, where he will focus on driving the company’s sustainable growth and scale strategy as they accelerate towards a new model for the independent music ecosystem.
