Ednita Nazario debuts at No. 8 on the Top Latin Albums chart (dated May 20) with her latest release, Una Vida (2,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending May 4, according to Nielsen Music), marking her 17th career entry on the tally. Of its total units, 97 percent stem from traditional album sales, fueling a No. 1 debut on the Latin Album Sales chart.
The Top Latin Albums chart ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). It is one of Billboard’s numerous genre-specific album charts that rank the popularity of albums by equivalent album units.
The arrival grants Nazario her 11th top 10 on Top Latin Albums, placing the Puerto Rican singer among only five women to have earned as many. While her Billboard chart debut was in 1986 (when “Tu Sin Mi” reached No. 9 on the Hot Latin Songs chart), her first trip to the album ranking came in 1996 (Espiritu Libre reached No. 40). She earned her first top 10 with her fourth charting album, Sin Limite, reaching No. 9 in 2001. Nazario is tied with Olga Tanon with 11 top 10s, Thalia and Jenni Rivera have each earned 12, while Selena holds the most, with 15.
Una Vida includes featured guests Gilberto Santa Rosa, Axel and Albita, as well as Dominican dance DJ Happy Colors on the English-language “A Little Love.”
Ozuna’s Highest Debut: Ozuna earns his highest entrance on Hot Latin Songs as “Tu Foto” lands at No. 15. The entrance marks his ninth song to debut the chart so far in 2017, and makes a total of 13 chart hits to date, since his debut on the chart in April of 2016. Since his debut (as a featured act on DJ Luian and Mambo Kingz’s “La Occasion”), no other act has placed as many songs on the chart.
“Tu Foto” is powered by 2.2 million U.S. streams in the latest tracking week, with 63 percent stemming from YouTube plays. A music video for the track was released April 28 and has amassed over 36 million global views to date. Four-thousand downloads of the song also aid in the Hot Latin Songs arrival, while simultaneously scoring a No. 5 debut on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart, Ozuna’s best showing on the tally to date.
‘El Amante’ Rises: Also on Hot Latin Songs, Nicky Jam’s “El Amante” reaches a new peak in its 16th chart frame, stepping 3-2. A 10 percent lift in streams, to 5.7 million weekly domestic clicks, supports the climb and marks the track’s highest streaming week yet. Digital sales rise 29 percent, to 5,000 downloads, helping the chart boost. The climb marks Jam’s highest peak since “Hast El Amanecer” spent 18 weeks at No. 1 in 2016 (the longest No. 1 run of last year).
“El Amante” is behind Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber, which holds onto the No. 1 for a 14th week with an enormous led in chart points (which blends airplay, digital sales, and streams).
At radio, “El Amante” remains strong, spending a 16th straight week (since its debut) in the top 10 on the Latin Airplay chart, hopping 8-6 on the current tally (up 7 percent, to 11.6 million audience impressions in the week ending May 7). “Amante” spent two weeks at No. 1 in February.
