Eddie Palmieri Releases New Album ‘Full Circle’ With Interactive Salsa App on His New Label

The new app offers the keys of his legacy to musicians and pedestrian lovers of Latin jazz and salsa around the world.

Pianist Eddie Palmieri is wild as innovative as ever at 81. He’s released a jamming new album featuring unbridled new versions of some of his classics, including “Vamonos Pa’l Monte “and “Azucar Pa’ Ti.” Recorded with a cast of cats from the maestro’s impeccable posse (including Brian Lynch and Conrad Herwig), Full Circle is the first recording on Palmieri’s new Ropadope records imprint Uprising Music.

While Palmieri continues to expand his weighty discography with a tropical storm-strength album release we expect to see followed by a Grammy nomination (he’s won eight so far, and been nominated for 14), a new app offers the keys of his legacy to musicians, as well as pedestrian lovers of Latin jazz and salsa, around the world.

The Palmieri Salsa Jam app, which was released Friday (July 20) along with the album, allows users to dissect the structure of each song on Full Circle and isolate specific instruments. Users can mute, solo, pan and fade the chosen sound in order to practice playing the part, or loop it, listen and play around.

The app, by Spectrum Interactive, which costs $9.99 in app stores, also includes sheet music for each part.
