As it cruises to a third week atop the U.K. albums chart, Ed Sheeran’s Divide (Asylum/Warner Music) hits the magical milestone of one million sales, passing the mark in just 16 days.
The singer and songwriter’s third studio set raced past 1.07 million combined sales (physical, digital and streaming equivalent) on Monday (March 20) and holds at No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart Update. Platinum certification in the U.K. is recognized at 300,000 units.
According to the charts compiler, Sheeran is on track to grab the U.K. chart double for a third week as Divide heads to the top of the Official Albums Chart, and “Shape Of You” is targeting an 11th week atop the Official Singles Chart.
Sheeran is still comfortably in charge of the top three singles positions, with “Galway Girl” at No. 2 on the Official Singles Chart Update (behind “Shape Of You” by less than 2,000 sales) and “Castle on the Hill” at No. 3. All told, he has nine tracks inside the top 20 and 16 in the top 50.

Depeche Mode’s 14th album Spirit (Columbia) starts at No. 2, while Dame Vera Lynn, the former “forces’ sweetheart” who made her name entertaining the troops during World War II, is currently at No. 3 with her new album 100 (Decca). The veteran singer celebrates her 100th birthday this week and is set to beat her old record as the oldest living artist to reach the top 20, which she established in 2014, aged 97, with Vera Lynn: National Treasure, which entered the weekly chart at No. 13.
Meanwhile, Drake’s new release More Life (Cash Money/Republic) opens at No. 4, Rag ‘n Bone Man’s former leader Human (Best Laid Plans/Columbia) drops to No. 5 and Zara Larsson’s debut So Good starts (Black Butter/Epic/Ten) is at No. 6.
