Drake & ‘The Greatest Showman’ Extend Their U.K. Chart Reigns
"God's Plan" spends a third consecutive week as chart leader.
Drake starts a third week with the U.K.’s No. 1 single, as “God’s Plan” (Cash Money/Republic/Universal) continues its reign. The soundtrack of The Greatest Showman (Atlantic/Warner) is also unshakeable, moving into a fifth week atop the album chart, and denying Justin Timberlake a perfect debut in the process.
The Official Charts Company records streams of 7.1 million for the Drake track, in the chart week ending Thursday (Feb. 8) at midnight. “These Days” (Asylum/Warner Music), by Rudimental featuring Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen, climbs 11-2, and ends the chart frame as the most-downloaded song of the week.
The rest of the singles top five is made up by Ramz’ “Barking” (Polydor/Universal), which slips 2-3; Dua Lipa‘s “IDGAF” (Warner Bros./Warner Music), steady at No. 4, and Eminem’s former No. 1 “River” (Interscope/Universal), featuring Ed Sheeran, down 3-5.
“This Is Me” (Atlantic/Warner) by Keala Settle and the Greatest Showman Ensemble is up from No. 8 to a new peak of No. 6, while another Atlantic single, “Finesse” by Bruno Mars featuring Cardi B, bounces back 9-7. Portugal. The Man has a top ten U.K. single for the first time, as “Feel It Still” — yet again, on Atlantic — climbs 13-9. Remarkably, it’s the track’s 28th week in the top 100, a run that began last August. Camila Cabello‘s “Never Be The Same” (Epic/Syco Music/Sony) is back up 14-10, after peaking three weeks ago at No. 7.
The Greatest Showman has just over twice as many combined units as Timberlake’s Man Of The Woods (RCA/Sony), which opens at No. 2. Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) is steady at No. 3, while longtime rock mainstays Simple Minds are new at No. 4 with Walk Between Worlds (BMG), their best ranking since Good News From The Next World reached No. 2 in 1995. English rock four-piece Don Broco arrive at No. 5 with Technology (SharpTone). That’s one place higher than their previous peak, with 2015’s Automatic.
