Drake Re-Boots ‘OVO Sound Radio’ Show on New Dedicated SiriusXM Channel

Drake brought back his OVO Sound Radio show on a new 24-hour SiriusXM channel that launched on Thursday night (March 4).

Drake brought back his OVO Sound Radio show on his new 24-hour SiriusXM channel on Thursday night (March 4). The new 24-hour satellite channel — which marks OVO’s return to the airwaves after an initial 2015-2018 run on Apple Music’s Beats 1 platform — has been dubbed Sound 42 and in a welcome message from Drizzy he explained why he decided now was the time for a reboot.

“First and foremost I want to send some positivity and blessings out to everybody,” the rapper said during a chat with his longtime manager, Oliver El-Khatib. “I hope you’re staying physically strong, mentally strong and making the most of what we’ve been dealt. I’m excited to announce this new platform and this new opportunity that we have with SiriusXM, a 24-hour, round- the-clock curated music station bringing the people that have trusted in us for years the same thing that we’ve always delivered.”

Broadcast live from Toronto, the channel is a mix of songs by Drake and like-minded acts, which just so happened to launch just hours before the boss dropped his new three-song EP, Scary Hours 2.

In the early hours of the new OVO channel on Friday morning (March 5) the eclectic mix of R&B and hip-hip tracks included songs from were Drakeo The Ruler — who recently roped Drizzy in on his song “Talk To Me” — as well as Drake himself (“Mob Ties”), British MC Digga D (“Woi”), OVO Sound R&B duo dvsn (“Mood”), Dave with Burna Boy (“Location”), Solange (“Bad Girls”) and Charlotte Day Wilson with Syd (“Take Care of You”).
