Drake Breaks Record for Most Weeks Atop Billboard Artist 100 by a Male

The hip-hop titan reigns for a 12th total week, passing Justin Bieber's sum. Plus, Paul Simon soars in at No. 7.

Drake remains the top musical act in the United States, ranking at No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart (dated June 25) for a 12th total week. The sum marks the most among males, passing Justin Bieber‘s 11 total weeks at No. 1.

The Artist 100 measures artist activity across Billboard‘s most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100, Top Album Sales and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Drake holds atop the Artist 100 with streaming marking the biggest share of his chart points (46 percent), followed by digital song sales (23 percent). As previously reported, “Dance” spends a fifth week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, while parent album Views logs a sixth week at the summit on the Billboard 200. Drake tops the Artist 100, Hot 100 and Billboard 200 simultaneously for a fifth total week (having first tripled up on the May 21 charts). Only Swift (seven weeks), Adele (six) and The Weeknd (two) have previously achieved the threefold feat.

Beyonce holds at No. 2, her highest rank, on the Artist 10, followed by Bieber (4-3), Rihanna (5-4) and Ariana Grande (8-5).

Paul Simon Debuts at No. 1 on Top Rock & Americana/Folk Albums Charts

Just beyond the Artist 100’s top five, Paul Simon rockets in at No. 7, powered by the arrival of his new album, Stranger to Stranger. The LP is the best-selling set in the U.S., opening atop Top Album Sales with 67,000 copies sold. It also launches at No. 1 on Top Rock Albums and Americana/Folk Albums and No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Plus, late icon Prince roars 32-10 on the Artist 100, up by 218 percent in airplay after radio stations nationwide celebrated what would’ve been his 58th birthday June 7. Prince led the Artist 100 for two weeks (May 7 and 14) following his death April 21.
