“When I was growing up, there were four magazines I wanted to be on the cover of: Essence, Ebony, and Jet. And& GQ,” says Diddy. On Monday (March 19) one of those childhood dreams came to fruition as Puff graces the cover of GQ for their April 2018 issue.

The 48-year-old was referred to as Love throughout his sit down with John Jeremiah Sullivan, who spent a day in the crazy life of Diddy as they touched on today’s hip-hop, the state of the Black community, reinventing himself and more in conversation.

The Bad Boy Entertainment CEO topped the earnings list for all musicians in America without even releasing any original music of his own in 2017, while boasting a net worth north of $820 million. Diddy isn’t shy at trying his hand at whatever business endeavors he finds lucrative, which is a credit to his ability to adapt in an ever-changing digital music marketplace.

The hip-hop mogul unveiled plans to develop an app by teaming up with JAY-Z , which will spotlight Black-owned businesses in a user’s area, to help invest back into the Black community. “My thing is most importantly to change the narrative of the black race. I can’t relate to anything that isn’t about that,” he says.

The unfinished app is still without a name, and Brother Love is quick to add the venture isn’t about taking away from other communities — but action needs to be taken, “I don’t believe in passiveness. At some point, there has to be some kind of fight,” Diddy states. “I feel like we’ve done a lot of marching. It’s time to start charging.”
