Welcome back to Billboard’s weekly video show “Real-Time Rewind,” which recaps the past week’s hottest action on the Billboard Real-Time Twitter Charts — Trending 140 and Emerging Artists — and the news that’s driving the action. Shira Karsen hits the studio for episode 71, which delves into the latest hits from Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato & Selena Gomez!

So what happened on the Real-Time Charts this week?

Shawn Mendes Sews A Hit: YouTube and Vine star Shawn Mendes has scored a fall hit with “Stitches,” as the song crossed into the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 this month. Shawn’s breakout hit has long been a staple on the Trending 140, topping the chart on several occasions all summer. Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello noticed the cut’s growing success, and shouted out Shawn (a rumored love interest) on Twitter, saying “I’m so proud of you!”

Adding to its exposure, fellow Vine star Hayes Grier and dancer Emma Slater performed to the track on the Oct. 5 episode ABC’s Dancing With The Stars.

“Stitches” features on Mendes’ debut album, Handwritten, which was released on April 14 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Demi’s Confidence Grows: Meanwhile, Demi Lovato notched not one but two hits on the Trending 140 this week as her Confident album looms. First, the set’s title track locked up several hours in the No. 1 slot thanks to its music video release. The action-packed clip co-stars actress Michelle Rodriguez and was directed by Robert Rodriguez.

In addition, Lovato shared an in-studio version of the song “Stone Cold” on her YouTube channel. Speaking to Complex, the singer revealed “Cold” is her favorite track from Confident, and she hopes it will yield her first Grammy Award nomination. “I just want to be nominated for one,” she said. “You can’t go higher than the Grammys in the music industry. That was a huge goal for this album.”

Both songs, along with Lovato’s seasonal anthem “Cool for the Summer” appear on Confident, which dropped Oct. 16.

Selena’s Revival Takes Over: Selena Gomez dominated the Trending 140 last week as cuts from her Revival album populated the chart. Four new tracks topped the survey, “Hands To Myself,” the title cut, and “Nobody.” Both of the album’s singles, the A$AP-Rocky assisted “Good For You” and “Same Old Love,” also returned to their familiar No. 1 positions.

Beyond those, six more of the album’s songs reached the top 10 on the album’s Oct. 9 release date, led by the No. 2 peaks of “Me & The Rhythm” and “Kill Em With Kindness.” At one point, Gomez owned the chart’s top seven positions, and eight of the top ten.

Revival is the singer’s second solo album, and her first since signing with Interscope Records in 2014. The set is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.
