‘Dear Evan Hansen’ Is Just Second Cast Ever to Top Dance Club Songs Chart

With the remixed "Waving Through a Window," the troupe follows the cast of "Stomp" in 1996.

The cast of Dear Evan Hansen can take a bow for having achieved a rare honor: a No. 1 hit for a cast on Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs chart.

On the list dated Dec. 9, Ben Platt and the Original Broadway Cast of Dear Evan Hansen rise 2-1 with “Waving Through a Window,” the first leader (and chart appearance) for both acts.

Remixed by Lodato & Joseph Duveen, Tony Moran and DJLW, among others, “Waving” is only the second song from a cast ever to top the chart: “Stomp” by Quincy Jones featuring The Cast of Stomp/The Yes/No Productions ruled on Oct. 26, 1996.

Of note, since the show Stomp was produced Off-Broadway, “Waving Through A Window” is actually the first song from a Broadway cast album to head the list.
