Acclaimed electronic music pioneer deadmau5 will take fans on a tour of his home studio, discuss his long career in music and deep dive into his latest creation, the cubev3, in a special keynote interview with Billboard Dance director Katie Bain at the Billboard Live Music Summit at the Montage in Beverly Hills on Nov. 5-6.
In a first for Billboard, deadmau5 (whose real name is Joel Zimmerman) will appear via high-def video stream from his home outside Toronto, while his manager Dean Wilson and live music director Chris Schroeder will join Bain in Beverly Hills for the interactive Q&A to discuss his Cube V3 tour, which launched with sold-out shows Thursday and Friday (Sept. 13) at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas.
The cubev3, which was designed and coded by deadmau5, made its debut at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Developed in association with Schroeder and technical design by Collyns Stenzel and video content and additional programming by deadmau5, the cubev3 comes to life each night of the Cube V3 tour and is capable of changing positions from 90 degrees to 45 degrees and rotating 360 degrees with mind bending content from deadmau5 and his custom touch designer system.
“The cubev3 is one of the most technically complex production elements to ever tour and there’s no one better to explain its creative development from concept to launch than Joel,” said Dave Brooks, Billboard’s senior director of live & touring. “And not only will we go inside his creative process, but we’ll also be inside his home as he livecasts from Canada.”
