The Grateful Dead train keeps on rolling. Following announcements of two Madison Square Garden shows, Dead & Company — that’s three quarters of the core Grateful Dead members plus John Mayer — have now announced eight more gigs to close out the year.
Dead & Company’s fall tour will hit Albany, N.Y., before their back-to-back shows at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, and then head out to Washington D.C. and Worcester, Mass. Things pick up again just after Christmas with California shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles, wrapping up on New Year’s Eve.
This new incarnation of the Grateful Dead follows the band’s three night Fare Thee Well Chicago performances from early July.
“Fare Thee Well proved to me that I’m not done exploring new rhythmic territory with Mickey [Hart] — I’m recommending that everyone puts their helmet on, because we are going to blast our way into some serious drums and space,” said drummer Bill Kreutzmann in a statement earlier this year. “And with Mayer riding shotgun with Weir — we’re in good company, so to speak.”
