De La Ghetto Signs With Warner Music Latina: Exclusive

After multiple releases on different labels over the past 10 years, reggaetón artist De La Ghetto has signed an exclusive recording deal with Warner Music Latin.

After multiple releases on different labels over the past 10 years, reggaetón artist De La Ghetto has signed an exclusive recording deal with Warner Music Latin.

For the time being, De La Ghetto will release singles, capitalizing on a robust social following.

Known for his romantic reggaetón and very racy videos, De La Ghetto has placed four tracks on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, dating back to 2007, when he appeared as a featured artist on Yaga y Mackie’s “Aparentemente.” He was last on Hot Latin Songs as a solo act in 2009, but he’s had a long list of songs on Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, most recently the reggae-infused “Dices” in 2015.

Born in New York to a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother, the 29-year-old De La Ghetto moved to Puerto Rico and began by collaborating with a broad range of acts, from Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderón to Mexicano 777.

Throughout, he constantly released singles, both as a lead act and as a featured act, with multiple labels. Although some of the tracks were distributed by majors, the Warner deal marks the first time De La Ghetto is signed directly to a major.

Warner has been actively beefing up its roster of urban acts for the past year, signing names like Colombia’s Reykon and, most recently, Puerto Rico’s Cosculluela.
