Day6 plan to make 2017 their year with new songs every month and the K-pop-rock act is already seeing promising payoff.

In December 2016, the band revealed that it would release new music and hold two concerts every month of 2017. January is starting strong with its two new songs “I Wait” and “Goodbye Winter” bringing the band to new peaks on Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart. “I Wait” debuts at No. 3 on the ranking, Day6’s highest mark on the tally so far, and is the week’s best-selling K-pop song in America.

Meanwhile, “Goodbye Winter” starts at No. 6, which ties Day6’s best showing on the chart after its debut single “Congratulations” peaked at the same spot in 2015.

“I Wait” marks a slight sonic shift for Day6, who previously showcased a more tender rock sound with past singles “Letting Go” and “Congratulations.” The song brings moody synthesizers and subtle electronica flourishes on the verses, before jumping to the harder-rocking chorus with group chants and sharper guitar licks to recall recent release by FTISLAND. The accompanying music video also sees the guys embracing a bolder visual style as they pair black jackets and turtlenecks with bedazzled chokers and sporty headbands. The guys rock out in front of a slew of changing city and scenic backdrops, before ending the video jamming out in a rain storm. Fans can hear the natural progression from past Day6 album cuts like “Blood” and “Sing Me,” but choosing “I Wait” as the focused kickoff single makes a statement to the band’s versatility and the range that it may show this year.

“Goodbye Winter” — which is this week’s fourth-best selling K-pop song in America — plays closer to the sound we had heard in past singles from the JYP Entertainment outfit, though it too boasts a more grungy chorus.

After already kicking off the act’s yearlong project with new peaks, it will undoubtedly be exciting to see how Day6 performs throughout the year. Mark your calendars: The guys’ next release is scheduled for Feb. 6.
