Kobalt Music announced on Thursday it has signed a worldwide agreement with hitmaking DJ-songwriter-producer David Guetta that covers publishing administration — including global synch and creative support services — for the French superstar’s catalog going back more than 15 years.
After getting his start in the Paris club scene and later becoming a stalwart fixture on the Spanish party island Ibiza, Guetta released his debut album in 2002 and has since scored hits including “I Gotta Feeling” (w/ Black Eyed Peas), “Titanium” & “Flames” (w/ Sia), “Sexy Bitch” (w/ Akon), “2U” (w/ Justin Bieber), “One Last Time” (by Ariana Grande) “Without You” (w/ Usher), “Turn Me On” (w/ Nicki Minaj) and “Hey Mama” (w/ Minaj, Bebe Rexha) among others.
Guetta won back-to-back Grammys for best remixed recording, non-classical in 2010 and 2011 and has sold over nine million albums, 30 million singles and boasts streams in excess of 8 billion. (On Spotify, he is the 14th biggest artist in the world in terms of monthly listeners — with 36.6 million.)
“David’s track record speaks for itself,” commented Willard Ahdritz, Kobalt’s founder and CEO. “He’s a rare breed — a global superstar who’s worked with the world’s biggest artists and created hit after hit. David and his business manager, Jean-Charles, have built an amazing collection of great music over the past 15 years and it will continue to live on for years to come. It’s an honor to represent his music as part of the Kobalt family.”
Guetta is currently working on his seventh studio album. Last week he released “Don’t Leave Me Alone,” a single featuring Anne-Marie.
“We’ve built and cherished this catalog over more than 15 years,” said Jean-Charles Carré, Guetta’s business manager and partner, “and I’m delighted to transmit it on to the expert hands of Kobalt.”
