Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley will join his brother Stephen Marley for Miami Beach Pop Festival’s All-Star Celebration of their father Bob Marley on Nov. 8 in Florida. The star-studded event led by Stephen has also announced planned appearances by Nacho, Jack Johnson and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler.
The collaborative concert at the debut festival will feature live performances of Bob Marley’s classics with these artists and surprise guests backed by a reggae band at the South Beach location.
“Bob Marley is perhaps the most beloved artist in the world, and his unifying message is exactly what Miami Beach Pop is all about,” said festival co-founder Paul Peck, who is known for producing epic scale collaborations including the Bonnaroo Superjam. “The impact of his music and spirit cannot be understated. We are honored to create this historic show during sunset on the first day of the festival. It will be an unforgettable moment in time.”
The inaugural Miami Beach Pop Festival will take place from Nov. 8-10 with headliners Chance the Rapper, Daddy Yankee, Jack Johnson and Kygo. It will also include sets by The Raconteurs, Juanes, Leon Bridges, Maggie Rogers, The Roots, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Jessie Reyez, T-Pain and Margo Price, among others.
Other special events include Nile Rodgers leading the Sol Jam with special guests, and the University of Miami Frost School of Music American Music Ensemble featuring Ben Folds. The festival’s Sunday lineup will also include special events from the Faith Unity Gospel Service and the Fienberg-Fisher K-8 Rock Ensemble.
