At the mid-way point of 2013, Daft Punk’s recently released album “Random Access Memories” is by far the year’s top selling dance/electronic album. With 614,000 copies sold in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, the set has sold more than 500,000 copies more than the second-biggest dance/electronic set, Atoms For Peace’s “Amok.”

SoundScan’s mid-way point of 2013 ended with the sales week that closed on June 30.

Just two dance/electronic albums have sold 100,000 this year — off from the seven that rang up more than 100,000 a year ago. At this point in 2012, Madonna’s “MDNA” led the list with 484,000, while LMFAO’s “Sorry for Party Rocking” was the second-biggest with 348,000.

Overall dance/electronic album sales stand at 4.56 million this year — down by 7% compared to where we were a year ago (4.90 million). To compare, overall album sales — across all genres of music — are down by 6%.

Dance/electronic music’s sales were focused more on song downloads this year, as eight EDM cuts moved more than a million each. That’s equal to the number of million-selling EDM songs a year ago. 2013’s top selling dance/electronic song is currently & Britney Spears’ “Scream & Shout,” which has shifted 2.27 million. Icona Pop’s “I Love It,” featuring Charli XCX, is the year’s second-largest dance/electronic song, with 2.02 million.

Daft Punk’s biggest single ever, “Get Lucky” (featuring Pharrell Williams), is the fifth largest selling dance/electronic song of the year, with 1.62 million. The lead track from its “Random Access Memories” album has spent three consecutive weeks lodged at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In terms of dance/electronic song sales volume, there have been 45.97 million downloads sold this year — a decline of 10.3% versus a year ago (46.57 million).
