Billboard Dance One to Watch artist Cray is proving her place in the electronic dance-pop world and now the DJ, producer, singer, songwriter and avid Twitch streamer has signed with Deckstar and the James Grant Group for management — the same company that handles Steve Aoki, blink-182, Morrissey and others. She is Deckstar’s first signee to truly cross represent its two divisions for musical acts and digital influencers.
“It isn’t often you come across an artist as talented as she is multifaceted,” Deckstar founder and partner Matt Colon said in a statement. “With footprints in music, gaming and fashion, Cray is perfectly suited to take advantage of Deckstar and James Grant’s new management model representing talent across entertainment verticals. Given all of Cray’s touch points, we’ve been able to put together an all-star management team, pulling assets from across the company and on both sides of the Atlantic.”
Born Cheney Ray, the Los Angeles-based creative is a self-taught producer who engages her growing audience via live Twitch stream mixes and production sessions. Her latest single “Peaches” caught Billboard‘s ear. It’s catchy future pop production clicks with listeners while it’s personal lyrics of overcoming gender bias hits important social notes.
“When I walked into the meeting with Deckstar, there was a table of men and women who showed me they believed in the project just as much as I did,” added Cray. “I can’t wait to start this journey with the most supportive team by my side.“
Cray, who is represented on the touring front by Ferry Rais-Shaghaghi at APA, continues to work on new music between stops at summer festivals, including Electric Zoo, HARD Summer, Sunset Music Festival and more to be announced.
