Country radio personality Sam Alex has launched his own program, The Sam Alex Show. The new show will hit airwaves Monday, (July 15), on select country stations across the U.S.
After five years as host of Townsquare Media’s Taste of Country Nights radio show, the on-air personality tells Forbes he left the company two months ago to pursue “radio entrepreneurship.” Alex will produce and syndicate the new show himself. The Sun Broadcast Group will handle affiliate licensing and sales.
“I’m so excited about this new chapter,” Alex told Forbes. “The world of radio has changed so much in the past decade, with continued consolidations, new technology and increased competition to discover new music. This change positions me to have full creative control and reach listeners in new ways.”
In addition to working with the Sun Broadcast Group, Alex has partnered with country music website Sounds Like Nashville for the new endeavor. The website will stream Alex’s interviews, while the radio host will work with editor in chief Josh Ickes on featuring additional SLN content on his radio show.
Alex is already embracing the entrepreneurial spirit and thinking up ideas to reach listeners with his new venture.
“Since I own the show, I’m in control of travel decisions and we can effortlessly take the show on the road and broadcast on-site at award shows, festivals and affiliate stations,” he said. “Connecting with listeners face-to-face has always been my favorite part of the job.”
