Major concerts and events in Buenos Aires, Argentina, have been canceled or postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) reaching more than 40 countries, Billboard has learned.
Karol G, Chayanne, Maroon 5, Tokio Hotel, and the Soda Stereo tribute are just some of the forthcoming shows to cancel or postpone, in addition to Green Day, Madonna, Pearl Jam, BTS, Wu-Tang Clan, who previously took action.
Starting Thursday (March 12), all major events to be held in Buenos Aires are suspended until further notice, including recitals, cultural spaces, tourist attractions, and any activities with a high population of people. The announcement was made by the head of the Buenos Aires city government, Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, and the City’s Minister of Health, Fernán Quirós, in order to help prevent the spread of the virus.
As of now, concerts taking place in the South American city during the months of April and May, such as Metallica, Greta Van Fleet, Kiss, Louis Tomlinson and Il Divo, have not provided statements.
Since the outbreak began at the end of 2019, more than 125,000 people have contracted the disease and over 4,600 have died, according to the World Health Organization. As coronavirus continues to spread, major concerts and events, such as Coachella and Ultra Music Festival, have been canceled or postponed.
