Aussie singer and songwriter Conrad Sewell enjoys the best possible start on Australia’s albums chart as his debut LP Life (Sony) starts at the summit. Meanwhile, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” (Columbia/Sony) returns to the top of the national singles survey as Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber’s “I Don’t Care” (Universal/Warner) dips 2-1.
Sewell’s Life includes the chart-topping, ARIA Award-winning single “Start Again” from June 2015, and “Healing Hands,” which peaked at No. 7 on the ARIA Singles Chart in July 2018. It’s not his first stint on the ARIA Albums Chart. Sewell, who is best known to international audiences for lending his vocals on Kygo’s single “Firestone,” saw his EP All I Know reach No. 9 back in November 2015.
Elsewhere on this week’s chart, Billie Eilish’s platinum-certified When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Interscope/Universal) holds at No. 2 and U.S. rapper Tyler, The Creator enjoys a new albums chart peak with Igor (Columbia/Sony), new at No. 3. Igor eclipses Tyler’s previous best, a No. 8 for Flower Boy from July 2017, and it spawns four top 50 tracks on this week’s singles chart, including the No. 11-ranked “Earfquake,” the highest new entry on the current frame.
Pink’s Hurts 2B Human (RCA/Sony) dips 1-4 while Rammstein breaks a 10-year albums drought with their self-titled seventh album. Rammstein (Universal) is new at No. 5 and sets a new chart peak for the band, whose last album, Liebe Ist Für Alle Da, hit No. 9 in November 2009.
Also crashing the top 10 on debut is The National’s I Am Easy To Find (4AD/Inertia), the American indie rockers’ eighth studio set. Its new at No. 6. Just one place behind is DJ Khaled’s Father Of Asahd (Epic/Sony), which opens at No. 7, and Lewis Capaldi’s U.K. chart champion Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent (Universal) starts at No. 10 on the Australian survey.
On the ARIA SIngles Chart, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” rises 2-1 for its fifth non-consecutive week in the top spot. Also noteworthy on this week’s singles chart is Halsey’s “Nightmare” (Capitol/EMI), which bows at No. 13. The track follows her March collaboration with Yungblud, “11 Minutes,” which hit No. 23, and her prior single “Without Me” which climbed to No. 2 last December and currently sits at No. 38.
