British pop-dance hitmakers Clean Bandit have scored their third U.K. No. 1 with “Symphony” (Atlantic/Warner Music), their collaboration with Zara Larsson. Ed Sheeran was thus denied a 15th aggregate week atop the singles chart with “Shape Of You,” but starts an eighth week at the album summit with ÷ (Asylum/Warner).
Clean Bandit previously topped the singles chart with “Rather Be,” featuring Jess Glynne, in 2014 and “Rockabye” last year. Swedish hitmaker Larsson’s previous best U.K. showing was with “I Would Like,” which climbed to No. 2 in the first week of 2017. “Symphony” jumps 2-1 in its sixth chart week.
With “Shape Of You” down to No. 2, the rest of the singles chart top five is unchanged. Sheeran’s “Galway Girl” is at No. 3 again, Harry Styles‘ former No. 1 “Sign Of The Times” (Columbia/Sony) at No. 4 and Drake‘s “Passionfruit” (Cash Money/Republic/Universal) at No. 5.
Jason Derulo‘s “Swalla” (Warner Bros.), featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign, climbs 15-6 to give Derulo a 12th U.K. top ten single. Shawn Mendes‘ “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” (EMI/Universal) makes its first appearance in the published top 75, climbing from No. 143 to No. 7.
Sheeran’s album was given a run for its money by reunited pop favorites Steps, whose Tears on the Dancefloor (Steps Music) led the way in early-week sales, but finished at No. 2 in the Official Charts Company data, 16,000 combined units behind. Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s Human (Best Laid Plans/Columbia/Sony Music) holds at No. 3.
There’s a No. 4 debut for Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May‘s Life Love Flesh Blood (Decca/Universal), her third top ten album, while Kendrick Lamar‘s DAMN. (Interscope/Universal) falls 2-5. Scottish long-runners Texas return at No. 6 with an eighth top ten album, Jump On Board (BMG), and metalcore band While She Sleeps start at No. 8 with You Are We (While She Sleeps).
