CJ Hits No. 1 on Emerging Artists Chart as ‘Whoopty’ Reaches the Hot 100’s Top 40

CJ rises 2-1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart (dated Jan. 9) to become the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time, thanks to his breakthrough hit “Whoopty.”

The song becomes his first top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, jumping 52-27 with 14.3 million U.S. streams, 9.2 million radio audience impressions and 3,000 downloads sold in the latest tracking week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

“Whoopty” concurrently ranks at No. 17 on the Rap Airplay chart, No. 19 on Rhythmic Songs and No. 24 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.

The single, which was produced by Cyprus native Pxcoyo, is CJ’s first entry on any Billboard chart.

Among other Emerging Artists moves, TikTok star Kim Dracula makes his Billboard chart debut, opening at No. 47 thanks to his cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi,” which enters Hot Rock & Alternative Songs at No. 31. The remake earned 1.5 million U.S. streams and sold 1,000 downloads in the week ending Dec. 31 and has been featured in over 60,000 TikTok clips to date. Lady Gaga’s original version of “Paparazzi” hit No. 1 on Pop Songs and reached No. 6 on the Hot 100 in 2009.

Plus, Canadian singer-songwriter Forest Blakk makes his U.S. chart arrival, entering Emerging Artists at No. 48 as his single “If You Love Her” tallied 2.1 million U.S. streams and sold 1,000 downloads in the tracking week.

The Emerging Artists chart measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay and streaming to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity. The chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists that have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard’s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.
