Chic Returns to Charts After 22 Years With ‘I’ll Be There’

Chic returns to Billboard's charts after a 22-year absence, as the group's new single "I'll Be There" debuts on Dance Club Songs.

After a 22-year absence from Billboard‘s charts, Chic has returned. The Nile Rodgers-led act grooves its way back with the new single “I’ll Be There,” which debuts at No. 40 on the Dance Club Songs chart dated April 25. (The chart will refresh on Billboard’s websites on Thursday, April 16.)

The song’s bow marks Chic’s first visit to any of Billboard’s domestic charts since Oct. 3, 1992. That week was the final charting frame for “Your Love” on the Dance Club Songs chart. The track had earlier peaked at No. 3 for two weeks.

“I’ll Be There” — credited to Chic featuring Rodgers — is the lead single from Chic’s forthcoming new studio album It’s About Time.  The set is scheduled for release in June through Warner Bros. Records and is Chic’s first new studio project since 1992’s Chic-Ism. “Your Love” was the second single from Chic-Ism. Its lead track, “Chic Mystique,” topped the Dance Club Songs chart on March 21, 1992.
