Chart Highlights: Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson Debut; Cage the Elephant Tops Alternative Songs

Maroon 5 and Clarkson soar onto multiple charts with "Sugar" and "Heartbeat Song," respectively, while Cage the Elephant stomps to its fifth No. 1 on Alternative Songs with "Cigarette Daydreams."

As previewed on Friday, Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson are set to hit the Billboard Hot 100 this week with new singles “Sugar” and “Heartbeat Song,” respectively. (The chart will refresh on Billboard.com on Thursday, Jan. 22.) Adding in projected sales and streaming figures, the former could start in the top 25, while the latter will likely bow in the chart’s second half. The tracks also begin on Adult Pop Songs, where Clarkson logs her highest entrance (No. 20) among 20 career charted titles.
