Perry sets the Pop Songs weekly plays mark with "Dark Horse"; HAIM hits its first airplay chart, with "Forever"; and Pharrell's "Happy" continues its multi-format surge.

Its 16,151 plays (or an average of 97 each among the tally’s 166 reporters) in the Feb. 17-23 tracking week top the 16,065 detections that Perry’s “Roar” registered on the Oct. 19, 2013, chart. (“Roar,” meanwhile, crowns Adult Contemporary (below) for a 14th week.) Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” featuring T.I. and Pharrell, ranks third with 15,801 Pop Songs plays (Aug. 24, 2013).

Acclaimed sister trio HAIM makes its first appearance on a Billboard airplay chart, as “Forever” debuts on Alternative Songs at No. 40. The song, from the band’s debut album “Days Are Gone” (which bowed on the Billboard 200 at No. 6 in October), marked the act’s first entry on any survey when it entered the Nielsen SoundScan-based Hot Singles Sales chart in August 2012; it went on to spend more than a year on the survey (reaching No. 4) and became the group’s first No. 1, topping Dance Singles Sales for 10 weeks. KHTB Salt Lake City leads Alternative Songs reporters with 42 plays for “Forever” last week, followed by WLUM Milwaukee (20) and KRXP Colorado Springs, Colo. (18).
