One Direction nabs its seventh hit on the Pop Songs chart as “Story Of My Life” begins at No. 28. The group has so far had one top 10 hit, with its debut single “What Makes You Beautiful,” which peaked at No. 3 on the chart dated June 16, 2012. Since then, all of the group’s singles have peaked between Nos. 15 and 19 on the tally.

While John Legend has been a major hitmaker on our Adult R&B airplay chart (viewable on, he’s never reached the Adult Contemporary chart’s top 30 until this week, as “All of Me” enters at No. 30 with airplay detected at 15 monitored stations, according to Nielsen BDS. On the Adult R&B chart, Legend has scored 15 entries, including “All of Me,” which has so far reached No. 8. In Legend’s sole prior AC appearance, he reached No. 32 (on the then-40-position tally; it’s now 30 spots-deep) with “Ordinary People.”

Cage the Elephant reaches No. 1 on both the Rock Airplay and Alternative Songs charts, as “Come a Little Closer” climbs 2-1 with Greatest Gainer honors on each tally. On the former list, it’s the band’s second leader, following 2011’s “Shake Me Down.” The group previously topped Alternative Songs with three titles: “Back Against the Wall” and “In One Ear” in 2010, and with “Shake Me Down.” Its new No. 1 appears on its third studio album, “Melophobia,” which bowed at No. 6 on Rock Albums last month.
