As it spends a second week atop Pop Songs, Katy Perry’s “Roar” rises 2-1 in its seventh week on Adult Pop Songs. The coronation grants Perry two historic milestones: “Roar” marks Perry’s eighth Adult Pop Songs No. 1, tying her with Maroon 5 and P!nk for the most leaders in the chart’s 17-year archives. Plus, its seven-week ascent marks the fastest to the chart’s summit since the survey first appeared in Billboard magazine the week of March 16, 1996. Four songs in that span had previously reached No. 1 in as few as eight weeks, most recently Perry’s “California Gurls” in 2010.
