The Chainsmokers’ ‘Closer’ Ties Record for Most Weeks at No. 1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs

The smash reigns for a 26th week, matching the rule of Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" Plus, moves for Lady Gaga, Zayn & Taylor Swift.

The Chainsmokers‘ “Closer” featuring Halsey crowns Billboard‘s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs for a 26th week (on the list dated Feb. 25), matching the longevity record first set in 2013-14 by Avicii‘s “Wake Me Up!” (The chart launched in January 2013.)

“Closer” — which first topped the tally dated Sept. 3, 2016 — culled 23.3 million U.S. streams, sold 25,000 downloads and drew 82 million radio audience impressions in the latest tracking week, according to Nielsen Music.

Meanwhile, on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, The Chainsmokers’ new single “Paris” (2-1) becomes the fourth leader for the DJ duo and rules only five weeks after “Closer” halted its record 20-week run atop the tally (which dates to 2003).
